Arrin's Son was a male Snowy Owl, or Bubo scandiacus, who was the child of Lord Arrin, the treacherous owl chieftain who rose against King H'rath and first cousin once removed of Lord Elgobad. He participated in and died during his father's treachery and his death was the source of Arrin's desire to claim Queen Siv's egg in an act of vengeance.
History[]
The First Collier[]
Arrin's Son was mentioned by Grank when speaking to his apprentice, Theo, about his need to protect the hunted egg of Siv and H'rath. During the conversation, Grank told the Great Horned Owl that he believed Arrin wished to take vengeance for the demise of his beloved son, who had been slain by one of the surviving ice harvesters of H'rooth shortly before H'rath's death and that Arrin's Son's death was what was fuelling his father on to take revenge on the entire royal bloodline.
Trivia[]
- The story of Arrin's Son bears a slight resemblance to Androgeus, the son of Minos, as, in reaction to their death, both of their father's sought savage vengeance of those they regarded as responsible.
