Arvid is a youthful male Great Horned Owl, or Bubo virginanus, and blacksmith belonging in the way of allegiance to the Guardians. He is the son of Buster, thus making him the great-grandchild to Bubo.

After it was declared by Otulissa that the Guardians of Ga'hoole were to be joining the war effort against the Timekeepers of the Ice Caps and their plans of mass annihilation, the Great Tree entered in preparations for invasion. In Arvid's case, he and his sire were both assigned to the task of cobbling the owls that would soon by flying to fight with wolves, bears, birds and snakes new helmets and fresh battle claws.
