Athos is an old Burrowing Owl who lived in the Desert of Kuneer before joining Shard's team in their mission. He has a scar over his right eye, and another on his right leg.

Before the Game[]
Long ago, Athos fought in the War of the Ice Claws against the Pure Ones. At some point while at Perrock Monastery, he met a young owl named Grettir. It can be inferred that he became close with Grettir, as he was able to talk with Shard in great length about him.
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (DS game)[]
Athos was captured by the Pure Ones and their bat allies. When Shard, Parzival, and Streak go to rescue the missing owlets, they notice one looks different. It's actually Athos, who despite being insulted by Parzival, offers to join Shard due to his experience fighting the Pure Ones. He also mentions that Shard reminds him of a young owl he met at Perrock Monastery, Shard's own father, Grettir.

- Athos does not make an appearance in the console game.
- As a wingman, Athos automatically heals you when out of battle.
- His name is a derived from the genus of the Burrowing Owl: Athene, but made more masculine.
