Bloodroot-flowers

Bloodroot is a plant that is commonly used by healers, even in modern day Ga'Hoole. Its juice, in small doses, can treat many symptoms, from sore throats to gray scale. Larger doses are highly toxic though, and can cause irreversible damage to the voice.

History[]

A Guide Book to the Great Tree[]

In the guide book, the jealous singer, Honeyvox, stole bloodroot juice from the infirmary and mixed it with bingle juice in order to attempt that Sir Lucien Plonk, the Great Tree's singer at the time, would lose his voice. Lucien drank from the poisoned bingle juice, but due to his size he was able to withstand it and fully recover. Honeyvox, however, had drank from the bingle juice unknowingly, and lost his voice forever.

Trivia[]

  • In real life, bloodroot can be used to treat sore throats, along with other illnesses. It is also sometimes used in toothpaste. However, too much of it doesn't result in muteness, but rather an increased risk of cancer, organ failure, internal bleeding, and when exposed to bare skin for prolonged periods of time can even cause flesh to dissolve.
