Bruce was a male Snowy Owl, or Bubo scandinacus, and Guardian of the Great Ga'Hoole Tree. He was friends with Bubo, and was killed in the canyonlands in the Battle of the Burning while fighting Pure Ones and their hireclaw reinforcements. Bubo protected his body after his death, vowing as he carried Bruce's body away that he would not allow the vultures to feast of him.

The Burning[]
Bruce fought Pure Ones, hireclaws and St. Aggie's owl alike valiantly during the Battle of the Burning and mere minutes before Kludd breathed his last breath, Bruce was cut down by one of the High Tyto's follows. Bruce's body was carried away by owls of the Great Tree, including Bubo, who quietly promised his friend the vultures would not feast on the Snowy. Aside from Kludd, Bruce was the last recorded owl to die during the War of the Pure Ones and was, along with Strix Struma, mentioned by Ezylryb when he described the Guardians losses.
