Claymore, also known as Clay, was a male Spotted Owl, or Strix Occidentalis. He was the older brother of Cleve, hatching just moments before Cleve. He was destined to wear a special pair of battle claws that had been in their family for years, but he died before he could.

Clay was Cleve's older brother, hatching moments before Cleve. They argue sometimes, and Clay calls Cleve 'Wet Poop Brain' or 'WPB' for short. When a servant, Jak, steals a pair of precious battle claws, Clay and Cleve go after him, and even though they manage to catch up to him and learn that the servant was blackmailed into stealing the battle claws, Cleve recklessly attacks him, which leads to both the servant and Clay dying in the process.
