Colonel Stellan,formally known as Stellan Micrathene Whitneyi was a haggish-looking old Elf Owl, or Micrathene whitneyi, who commanded the B unit of the Frost Beaks.

Colonel Stellan is a much-despised commander on Dark Fowl Island. She snickers when Thora is called forward, expecting her to be removed from the cadet program, and is shocked when Orf instead chooses Thora to be his apprentice. She is not mentioned after this, and her fate is unknown, but it can be inferred due to her age at the time of this story that she has passed away, either in battle or from old age.
