The Desert Kingdom of Kuneer, also called the Desert of Kuneer, or simply Kuneer, is one of the five Southern Kingdoms. Many Burrowing Owls live here because they enjoy living in burrows. It is located right next to the Forest Kingdom of Tyto, where Soren and his family live at the beginning of the series. Both Gylfie and Digger were hatched here and this is also the place where Tavis and Cletus, brothers of Twilight, took refuge after the Pure Ones attacked Ambala. Later, Pure Ones started recruiting in Kuneer and drove all the owls living there away. St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls were snatching owlets and eating some too until they were destroyed in The Shattering.

History[]

The Capture[]

It was first mentioned in The Capture, when Gylfie told Soren where she was from and how she was captured. It was eventually visited by Soren, Gylfie, Twilight, and Mrs. P to find Gylfie's parents. It was here where they first met Digger.

The Rescue[]

As he watched the Chaw of Chaws destroy the Devil's Triangle, Kludd furiously thought to himself how he wished to rake Wortmore after the soldier questioned him in regards to his knowledge of flecks' weakness but refrained due to his need for all his present ten troops, as the majority of the Pure Ones were currently situated somewhere in Kuneer, though the reasons for it is unknown.

To Be a King[]

In the time of "The Legends of Ga'Hoole", Hoole lead a group of dire wolves into the desert to cull the hagsfiends that resided there. Hoole also had a premonition that the green eyes of the dire wolves could overpower the fyngrot of the hagsfiends. The undertaking was a success but Fengo, the chieftain of all the wolf clans, was killed.

Lost Tales of Ga'Hoole[]

Tavis and Cletus were living in Kuneer when they found themselves and their neighbors in the middle of a Pure Ones takeover. Several Burrowing Owls, led by Tarn, were excavating tunnels and capturing prey to accommodate the Pure Ones, who were planning to conquer the desert as a new base of operations. After a nasty fight, the Great Gray brothers managed to save most of their Burrowing Owl neighbors with a planned escape.
