Fiona is a Whooper Swan, or Cygnus cygnus, who, along with a family consisting of their mate, Dougal, and an unspecified number of children, the singer Honeyvox claimed once to have encountered.

A Guide Book to the Great Tree[]
While bragging to the owls of the Great Ga'hoole Tree about his ventures and the birds he had met and earned the praise of, Honeyvox talks about how the children of Fiona and Dougal had constantly been attempting to imitate him, to their concealed laughter (though unconfirmed, though Honeyvox, in his vainglorious frame of mind, might have thought these acts praise, Fiona's children might have actually been making fun of him, given their reactions). The family, however, Fiona included, departed for what they called an early migration and disappeared.
