Great Ga'Hoole Tree

The Great Ga'Hoole Tree, located on an island in the middle of the Sea of Hoolemere, is a huge, sprawling oak tree where the Guardians of Ga'Hoole and many other owls reside. It is often mentioned in the Legends of Ga'Hoole. Often, owls young and old who have not seen the Great Tree believe it is just a fantasy.

History[]

Before the Movie[]

The Great Ga'Hoole Tree, where the noble Guardians of Ga'Hoole reside, became the stuff of legend. Because many owls have only heard of the Tree through these legends, many are sceptical about its existence.

Before the events of the movie, the Guardians of the Great Tree engage the Pure Ones in the Battle of the Ice Claws. The legendary Lyze of Kiel defeats Metal Beak, and the Guardians win.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole[]

The Great Ga'Hoole Tree is first mentioned by Soren as he tells Eglantine the story of the Battle of the Ice Claws. After their glorious victory, Soren says they then returned home to the Great Tree of Ga'Hoole. On the wall of the hollow are scratchings depicting owls in the Great Tree. Kludd dismisses Soren's legends as childish fantasies.

Later, when Soren and Gylfie are captured by the Pure Ones, Grimble agrees to teach them how to fly in the hope that they can escape and inform the Guardians of the horrors the Pure Ones have committed. He completely believes the legends of Ga'Hoole. In his dying breath, as Soren and Gylfie escape, he urges them to "Go tell the Guardians!"

Soren and Gylfie meet Digger and Twilight. The both of them join Soren and Gylfie and Twilight shows them the way to the Sea of Hoolemere. When they arrive, the owls are skeptical, but an echidna shaman urges the band to follow the stars to find the Guardians.
