Gyllbane is a cream she-wolf, and former member of the MacHeath Clan. Her pup, Cody, was maimed by Dunleavy MacHeath with the intention of placing him into the Sacred Watch, igniting Gyllbane's hatred of Dunleavy MacHeath. Her mate was also driven away from the clan by MacHeath. She later was renamed as Namara and became one of the fine Namaras, chieftains of the MacNamara Clan.
History[]
The Outcast[]
Gyllbane is introduced as a member of the MacHeath clan. She lives a life of misery, constantly watching her son, Cody, from a distance, who is unaware that she is his mother. Later, when Nyra arrives at the MacHeath clan with a gift of green eyes and then yet again to form an alliance, she is suspicious. Upon hearing that Nyra plans to kill Coryn, Gyllbane is horrified by the idea of a mother killing her own child and decides to betray her clan to warn Coryn. Once Nyra appears to carry out the attack, Gyllbane arrives to steer Nyra into a trap, which almost works until Uglamore is killed and Nyra manages to escape.

The War of the Ember[]
Gyllbane is shown to be a friend of Sveep, the polar bear. It's said that some time three years prior, Sveep had come across Gyllbane racked with grief over the loss of Cody, and Sveep allowed her to stay at her den. Gyllbane helped take care of Sveep's cubs, who began to call her Auntie Gyll. Since then though, Gyllbane had become the chieftain of the MacNamara Clan, and now renamed herself Namara.
Sveep comes to visit her, telling her about the puffin, Dumpy, and his news about Nyra and the Striga's plans to create hagsfiends.
Trivia[]
- When Dunleavy MacHeath shows off his clan members' scars to Nyra in The Outcast, he mentions that Gyllbane has a particularly brutal scar on her shoulder from a battle with the MacAndrew clan.
