Hakon was a Great Horned Owl, Bubo virginianus, and the biological father of Theo, Shadyk and Pye. He was a retired H'rathian Guardsman.

Before the Books[]
Hakon was abusive to his owlets, Theo, Shadyk and Pye. Pye fled the hollow to become a gadfeather as soon as she could fly, and when Shadyk went off to war, Hakon was enraged and he followed, not wanting to be outdone by someone whom he considered as a runt. He got killed shortly afterwards.
