Hot Beak was an Eagle Owl hero of the Northern Kingdoms. Not much is known about them, other than that they were famous enough to have a book, the Yigdaldish Ga’far, written about their adventures with their companion, Proudfoot. In their adventures together, they encountered kraals to some extent, as mentioned by Otulissa in The Burning. Their gender is unspecified.

Otulissa is mentioned to have memorized passages from the Yigdaldish Ga’far in order to fully immerse herself in the culture of the Northern Kingdoms for the Chaw of Chaw's mission. Hot Beak is mentioned as one of the main protagonists of the long tale.

Otulissa mentions that she first learned of kraals while reading the Yigdaldish Ga'far, implying that Hot Beak must have encountered and potentially fought the pirate owls.
