Hubert is a Burrowing Owl, or Athene cunicularia, of undetermined gender who lived in the Great Tree on the Island of Ga'Hoole. They were an acquaintance of Digger.

When pointing out Dewlap lacking any position in the Guardians digging units, Digger uses Hubert as an example, telling Soren and Otulissa how Hubert is helping prepare caches for food supplies, should the army of Kludd lay siege to Hubert's home.
