Juhani is a male Brown Fish Owl and was a blacksmith who worked for the Kielian League during the War of the Ice Claws.

Juhani is only briefly mentioned in the book, but he is one of many blacksmiths of the Kielian League who works on Dark Fowl. The scent of fish oil and well-seasoned seaweed can be smelled wafting from his forge. Arne and Rask appear to know him well. Juhani's assistant is an Elf Owl named Rolf, an old friend of Rask's.
