Kalo

Kalo is a female Burrowing Owl, or Athene cunicularia, and a childhood friend of Coryn, as well as the daughter of Myrtle and Harry, and the older sister of Coryn (named after his savior and nicknamed Cory). Because of her love of thinking and reading, she is nearly burned as part of the Striga’s plans. She also has a daughter named Siv and a son named Bruno, whom she had with her mate, Grom.

History[]

The Hatchling []

Kalo first met Coryn, then called Nyroc, when she went out of her family's burrow. However, after only hearing him say the first two letters of his name she thought he was Nyra and was terrified of him.

The Outcast[]

Kalo and Coryn met again, and while Kalo thought that Coryn was Nyra at first, after Coryn saved her mother's egg she knew he wasn't like Nyra, and the two became good friends.

Exile[]

Kalo had a daughter, Siv, named after Queen Siv and a son, Bruno with Grom, her mate. Because of her love of thinking and reading, she was nearly burned as part of Striga’s plans, as the Striga claimed that it was blasphemy for her brother and daughter to be named after the king and the queen.

Kalo later joined Coryn in fighting two of the Striga's acolytes, a Great Gray that Kalo personally kills and a Great Horned Owl that Coryn finishes off, then accompanied him to the Great Tree disguised as Greenowls to fight in the Battle of Balefire Night.
