Ludvigsen III was a Short-eared Owl, or Asio flammeus, from the Northern Kingdoms who served an esteemed career in the Kielian League. His grandson was Captain Ludvigsen Asio Flammeus and, like much of his family, was named after Erik Ludvigsen Pontoppidan.

History[]

Life before The Rise of a Legend[]

Ludvigsen was the son of an esteemed member of the Ice Squires and the grandson of another and, like his sire had been before him, was named in honour the Other Erik Ludvigsen Pontoppidan, who had named the Asio flammeus species. Like them, he joined the Kielian League, possibly training under his father, and joined the Ice Squires. During the War of the Ice Claws, he gained a significant reputation that equaled his distinguished ancestry before retiring from the military life to teach at the Military Academy like his father and grandfather had before him. He eventually took a mate and bore at least one child: Ludvigsen IV.

The Rise of a Legend[]

Ludvigsen III was briefly mentioned by his own son's child, Ludvigsen V, when he recounted his family's long and distinguished history as warriors — then teachers — in the Kielian League.
