Marquis Henryk VI is a male Snowy Owl aristocrat of the Northern Kingdoms and the son of Marquis Henryk V and Marquise Gertrude. Part of a family that grew in prestige and influence in the wake of the League of the Ice Talons's victory, Henryk and his clan were as such closely connected to the League and, on Rodmilla's orders, Henryk proposed to her step-daughter Brunwella Plonk as part of a plot to strengthen his firth's ties to Bylyric's forces. He was small in build for a male and seen by both Brunwella and Thora to be snobbish and unintelligent.
History[]
Early Life[]
Marquis's house was an aristocratic noble family that traced its ancestry directly from at least one unknown royal of the ancient H'rath court, which the clan took great pride in, maintaining the now inconsequential titles through the centuries (including continuing the same name again and again, as was the case with Henryk and his father) and stubbornly associating themselves only with Snowy Owls they perceived to be of noticeable birth, such as their fellow descendants of royalty, and as such, they were known as 'snow snobs'. The clan and firth belonging to them was affiliated with the League of the Ice Talons and, in the wake of their triumph over the owls of the Kielian League, Henryk's family gained a good degree of prestige, though it is unconfirmed if Henryk had any personal connection to Bylyric. However, though apparently not a soldier, Henryk was still regarded at least by some to be an Ice Talon by association, if nothing else.
Due to kin's his illustrious connections, Henryk VI was a student of Featherston's Academy, from which he graduated. Presumably taught since birth by his parents to do such, Henryk took immense pride in his family tree, boasting how their roots were found within the H'rathian court.
Lost Tales of Ga'Hoole[]
For reasons unknown, Henryk, together with his father and mother, was staying for a moon cycle in the Firth of Canis, to the excitement of Rodmilla Plonk, who called him the 'catch of the firths' and invited the nobles to a dinner with her and her daughters, going into great detail within her letter regarding the beauty of her stepdaughter, Brunwella, who she intended to see engaged to Henryk VI.
Arriving in the wake of his parents after passing through a 'catastrophic' wind, Henryk VI was greeted obsequiously by Rodmilla, who he acknowledged only with words, his eyes having glued to the beautiful Brunwella. Voicing his assumption to the identities of the two sisters, Henryk soon gained Brunwella's silent enmity when he showed his distain at the sight of her sister Thora's grey spotted plumage with a wince. Dining with his parents and the Plonk owls, Henryk, pausing only to devour five lemmings, passed the night boasting to Brunwella about his ancestry, tutelage and "school chums", boring Brunwella and fascinating Rodmilla. In the wake of Brunwella's performance of "Blessed Snow", Henryk VI followed his father's example by proposing a toast that he declared to be "to more little chicks", implying with an obvious wink at Brunwella who he wished such chicks parents would be. This statement was answered by a smothered laugh from Thora, who Henryk VI - interpreting it as the act of a drunken owl - joined in her churring in polite curtesy.
Several nights later, Brunwella found among her stepmother's possessions a letter addressed to her from Henryk VI so eloquently phrased that Thora thought Henryk letter had been written by a scribe instead. In the note, Henryk expressed a claim that he had been strongly infatuated by Brunwella after her performance and proposed that, despite the differences in their social statuses, they begin courting as soon as could be. This note was reacted to with disgust and despair from Brunwella, who felt nauseous at the very thought of taking Henryk, who Thora calls an Ice Talon, as a mate. After she was exposed to be a slipgizzle sent by Bylyric to infiltrate the Plonk Family, Rodmilla explained to Thora how Henryk's proposal had been on her orders as part of her plan to solidify Henryk's firth's allegiance to the Ice Talons and restricting Berrick's contact with the Resistance, raising into question whether Henryk generally loved Brunwella as he claimed or was simply acting under orders from Plonk's treacherous stepmother.
