Namara MacNamara was the chieftain of the MacNamara Clan during The Golden Tree. She was an ally of Coryn who joined him along with her family in his attack on the Tunnel of Despair.

Before the Books[]
At an unspecified point in time, Namara became the chieftain of the MacNamaras, casting aside her previous name and donning the name Namara, per the tradition of the clan.
As was the custom, Namara selected a mate from several wolves who had vied for her paw-in-marriage, choosing Cormag as a partner. Namara and Cormag evidently had a close relationship, for Namara bore at least two pups with him: a son named Airilla and daughter to whom they gave the name Morag too.
The Golden Tree[]
Along with several wolves of the MacDuncans and McFangs, Namara was located by the Band and their allies, who asked her for assistance in fighting the combined forces of Nyra's Pure Ones and the vyrrwolf remnants of the MacHeaths — sworn enemies of the MacNamaras — which she agreed to give, travelling with her mate and their son and daughter first to the Shadow Forest, where she assisted in collecting branches for the owls to fight with, then to the Canyonlands in a 'press paw' byrrgis, bounding alongside her fellow chieftains Duncan MacDuncan and Fitzmore McFang. Namara, upon arriving, gathered with her allies on a ridge and, when Twilight inquired if all of the hagwolves were within the Tunnel of Despair, Namara lifted her nose and observed that the old scent marks implied that none of their enemies had been out of their headquarters for a long time. She subsequently stood outside the entrance to the Tunnel with the rest of the wolves, ready to attack any MacHeath lucky enough to escape, taking him or her down before the moonlight could make them a monster, then joined the conflict, fighting twisted wolves and Nyra's followers alike.
