Penryck was one of the many hagsfiends that resided in the Northern Kingdoms during the time of the legends. He was known as the sky dragon, which earned him a fierce reputation. He is larger than most hagsfiends and has a ridge of feathers running down his back.
Penryck can be seen as the true main antagonist of book 10 as Lord Arrin is clearly just his pawn, although he still pretends to be serving under him.
Biography
The First Collier
He first appears in book 9. He is usually found at Lord Arrin's side and helped him win the battle against King H'rath. Penryck took H'rath's head and stuck it on his blade before flying screeching into the night while it trailed blood.
He and Lord Arrin attack Queen Siv but she escapes thanks to the quick timing of her bear friend.
The Coming of Hoole
He can be seen as the true main antagonist of book 10 as Lord Arrin is clearly just his pawn, although he still pretends to be serving under him.
In book 10, Penryck is plotting to overthrow Lord Arrin and to rule the Earth as the god of nachtmagen. Penryck later assists Lord Arrin in attempting to stop young Hoole from retrieving the Ember but Hoole takes it and becomes the new king. Penryck and Lord Arrin then retreat.
To Be a King
It is unknown where he is in book 11, or if he betrays Arrin or is defeated at all.
