Poot is a male Boreal Owl, or Aegolius funereus, and the assistant of Ezylryb in the Weather Interpretation Chaw. He normally accompanies journeys on the Weather Interpretation Chaw and Colliering classes. He also substitutes as captain for the Weather Interpretation Chaw when Ezylryb is absent.

The Journey[]
Poot first appears in assisting Ezylryb in Weather Interpretation Chaw. Poot describes flying after eating a meal with no fur for the chaw members and assists them in flight.
The Rescue[]
Poot takes over Ezylryb's duties while he is missing, but he has a hard time doing so. During one of their training flights, Poot gets the chaw lost in the Spirit Woods after a storm, at which point he warns the chaw about scrooms.
Personality[]
Poot enjoys being an assistant for Ezylryb and looks highly to him. However, he has trouble running the class alone when Ezlyryb is gone. He seems to be very superstitious overall, as he is a bit afraid of scrooms, but tries to act brave. He can, however, be overall harsh on students when a one complains, proven by Otulissa.
