For owls, death is the start of a new life in Glaumora. It is not sad or scary but a part of the journey all embark on. Scroomsawikken is an ancient celebration when the living remember and honor their departed loved ones. It takes place on the first new moon after spring's equal night.

Celebrations[]

The mood is bright instead of gruesome and it is treated like a family reunion of sorts. The deceased are remembered fondly by their friends and family. If possible, owls return to the site of their loved ones' death or final ceremony to pay respects. Some offer flowers or bits of fur and food to make the departed ones' stay in Glaumora more comfortable. There was often singing and dancing at the sites, as owls want to bring joy to the ones they love, even after death.

At the Great Tree, there is an additional tradition of owls lighting candles in the Great Hollow to pay tribute to the deceased.
