Siv's Mother was a female Spotted Owl, or Strix occidentalis, and the dam of Ex-Queen Siv, the mother-in-law of H'rath and the maternal grandmother of Hoole. She is also an ancestor of Otulissa.

The Coming of Hoole[]
Siv mentions her mother briefly while looking back on what she had heard of gadfeathers in the past, including how her mother and aunts had spoken of the wandering lifestyles such owls embraced with unmasked disdain, regarding the owls with contempt for how they lived without discipline, homes and families and reputation as rowdy and prone to thievery. Siv, however, after infiltrating a gathering of gadfeathers and listening to the voice of the Snow Rose, grew dubious of the validly of such beliefs.
