Starsight is a special power that enables creatures to visualize future events in their dreams. In these dreams, the stars in the daytime act like holes in a fabric where owls can glimpse the future. However, these are usually unclear, and in Soren's case, he only remembers it when it is almost too late. The only known owls that have this ability are Soren and Mist, the original Hortense.

In the real world, these are called precognitive dreams.

In The Burning, Gylfie describes that starsight is like having holes in dreams in which you can look into. Otulissa tells Soren she thinks he has this ability.

Faolan from the spinoff series Wolves of the Beyond also has this ability, although his is more directed at navigating with the stars. In Bears of the Ice, Third has prophetic dreams, though the polar bears rather call it "second sight."
