Strix Hurth was a male Spotted Owl, or Strix occidentalis and was the father of Strix Struma.
History[]
Before the Books[]
Strix Hurth was a graduate of Little Hoole and mate of Strix Otulinn. At some point, he became a commander in the Kielian League, and taught classes on Dark Fowl Island.
Lost Tales of Ga'Hoole[]
He and his mate had a daughter, Strix Struma, who ended up being lazy and defiant despite the expectation of greatness. Hurth and Otulinn decide to send her to Little Hoole to straighten her up. Upon her return, Hurth decides that she had proven herself worthy of the "Strix" title.

- In the movie's canon, Strix Hurth would be a Short-Eared Owl rather than a Spotted Owl.
