The Barrens are an area located on the southwest side of the Sea of Hoolemere, north of Ambala, and just below the Shadow Forest and Silverveil.

History[]
The Hatchling[]
On his way back to The Canyonlands, Gwyndor was attacked by crows and collapsed. A Burrowing Owl family (Harry, Myrtle, and Kalo) took him in until he recovered.
On his way to Silverveil, Nyroc rested in the Barrens. He accidentally frightens Kalo and Myrtle because they think he's Nyra. He then tearfully takes off.
The Outcast[]
On his way to Beyond the Beyond, Coryn flies over the Barrens. He hears a frantic conversation between Kalo, Harry, and Myrtle concerning their egg being stolen by the Pure Ones.
After returning the egg, the Burrowing Owl family invites him into their burrow to witness the hatching. Eventually, Coryn says his goodbyes.
Exile[]
Doc Finebeak followed The Striga into the Barrens. There he witnesses the Blue Brigade start a bonfire and harass Kalo's family.
Later, Kalo leaves to protect her family. In response, Cory leaves to talk with Coryn.
