The Brad, also known as the Place of Living Books, was founded by Braithe and is a place where owls come to commit books to memory, preserving their contents.

Description[]

The Brad is a location deep within the Forest of Ambala that is hidden from all outside observation, including sound. It is located within a moss pit, which is a soundproof crater that has thick moss lining the walls, preventing any sound from travelling outwards. The Brad can be found inside a cluster of heartwood trees firmly planted in the valley within this moss pit. Upon entering, the light that shines through turns amber and the scent of mint can be picked up on the gentle breeze that flows through the Brad.

Trivia[]

Braithe says he got the idea for the Brad from an Other author they call Ray Brad. This is an obvious reference to American author and screenwriter Ray Bradbury, especially to his book "Fahrenheit 451" where in a dystopian future a group of bibliophiles take to memorizing books in case they're burned.
