Twilight's Father

Twilight's Father was an unnamed Great Gray Owl, or Strix nebulosa, the mate of Skye and the father of Tavis, Cletus and Cassius, later known as Twilight. He was killed by the Previous High Tyto of the Pure Ones for his outspoken opposition of the belief of Barn Owl supremacy.

History[]

Along with his mate, the famed poet Skye, Twilight's Father settled in Ambala, despite the dangers of egg snatchers belonging to nearby St. Aggie's and Pure Ones, who were growing in power and ambition, eventually bearing two sons from their union, whom they named Cletus and Tavis. Together, the family lived happily in the hollow of an oak tree.

Despite not being Tytos themselves, Skye and Twilight's Father both were vehemently opposed to the ideologies of the Tytonic Union of Pure Ones, which labelled Barn Owls as a superior species and the only descendants of Glaux and did nothing to hide their belief that all are equal and none are supreme. These feelings, however, would eventually mark the destruction of the family, which began when, soon after Skye had bore a third egg, Tavis and Cletus's Father vanished during a hunting expedition, which was later exposed to be the work of the Pure Ones, who's then High Tyto had personally murdered the brothers' father, presumably for his anti-supremacy attitude.

The War of the Ember[]

Whilst explaining their entry into 'The Orphan School of Tough Learning', Tavis told Gylfie, Wensel and Soren how their sire had died at the talons of the High Tyto who had proceeded Metal Beak to the position of master of the Pure Ones.
